Expectations – Buddhism believes that they are the cause of great suffering. The expectation that your friends will always remain your friends, that they will be loyal to you, that the feeling of companionship will remain to the same extent over time.
Relationships are subject to terms and conditions as much as any business transaction. And no one can determine how much a person is to be liked by another.
When I was a kid, I used to think intelligence comes with age, with growing older.
We love and we lose. We scatter friends over the winds of time. We sow our seeds and leave behind the treasure box of our memories burrowed deep inside the ground… All the pain, the suffering, the injustice… all are nothing in front of a few moments of love.
Happiness, if it does exist, lies in retrospect.
