I have always loved reading books and accounts of life in the Arab world, and eagerly looked forward to reading this book as well.

The author offers an in-depth study of the Arab world and its often uneasy relationship with sexuality. Going across countries like Egypt, Tunisia, the Saudi kingdom, Morocco and Bahrain, El Feki discusses issues ranging from female genital mutilation to lack of sex education and awareness of sexual issues, the attitude towards women, the Arab Spring’s impact, the plight of unwed mothers in a society that condemns premarital sex, life for homosexuals living in an Arab country and more.

The book offers statistics to ensure you sit up and take notice and also shares stories of people from the region. Some anecdotes are reassuring while others show how much is yet to be done.

A must-read for the insights it offers on the entire region.
